This photo shows yet another natural wonder located in the gorge area. It's the opening to a large bat cave. In 2009 a group of people measured and mapped out the cave. I found their report on the internet and apparently people in the area hid in this cave during Costa Rica's 1948 civil war. They must have been desperate to do so because whenever I walk by the cave I can smell the guano and it doesn't look like an appealing place for humans to live.
