I took these photos earlier this year. I found the shape of these old tree roots interesting. This tree grew out of a rock ledge at the edge of the river. Over the years I have seen several trees near this one, snap off and die. A few days ago it rained 4 1/2 inches and the river soared! The river was so fierce that this dead old tree could no longer hold on and fell down. Part of the large rotten trunk had moved about 100 meters down river. The gnarled, tangled mess of large roots is now in the river waiting for the next storm to carry it away. Good bye dead old tree!
