Red and White Caterpillar in Puriscal

It must be caterpillar season in our part of Costa Rica. I found this guy when I was walking on the path to our citrus orchid. He was conveniently positioned on a tree at eye level which made picture taking easy. This caterpillar was about 1 1/2 inches long and about 1/2 inch wide.

The textures and patterns were remarkable. We thought it looked like a fuzzy slipper.

Green Hairy Caterpillar

A couple of days later I found this one eating a leaf of an okra plant. I like its aqua blue head. It would be interesting to see what type of butterfly both of these turn into.
