Tropical Storm Nate passed through Costa Rica on Wednesday and Thursday. I checked the rain gauge Thursday morning only to find it overflowing from the heavy down pours all night. Over those two days we received around 13 inches of rain. Yesterday morning I surveyed the property and found part of the internal road slipped down the hillside into the Rio Coco below. This area had been eroding over the past few rainy seasons. I don't think a car will ever go through here again unless extensive backhoe work is done and then that would probably expose the area to even more erosion. The Rio Veijo was very high so I was not able to cross to see what happened on the other side. These photos show the same missing part of the road, but from opposite sides.
