Mimosa Pudica, also known as the sensitive plant grows like a weed here. The stems have sharp thorns, and the roots have a distinct odor when being pulled from the ground. The leaves are the most famous part of the plant that close when disturbed, but it also produces lovely small purple flowers. I've been watching a patch growing next to the street and noticed the flowers only last one day.
