The other day when I brought the camera into town to take pictures at the feria, I asked John to pull the car over so I could take a picture of this palm tree. Hanging from the palm fronds are many oropendola nests.
There is another palm tree next to this one that has an equal amount of oval shaped nests. I saw one up close at a restaurant where it was hung for decoration. The densely woven gourd shape was impressive. I'd like to watch as one of these is being created. While I see oropendolas just about every day on our property, I have never seen them nesting here.
