Local Cemetery in Puriscal
As requested, here are some iphone photos of the local cemetery. A concrete wall and iron gate surround the grounds. The tiles on the wall were added in the past few years making a more finished appearance. Behind the gate is a long covered walkway and podium where the funerals take place.
One side of the cemetery is filled with crypts. Some house four to six coffins. Burials without embalming are done shortly after a death. There are one or two crematoriums in the country, but that practice is not very popular.
Someone told me crypts are used because of how wet the ground becomes in the rainy season.
The other side of the cemetery has a few in ground burials but as you can see it appears the coffins are enclosed in a concrete box in the ground.
