Puriscal church fence moved

When we first visited Santiago de Puriscal 10 years ago the old church had a fence around the building to keep people out. This is the church that was damaged in an earthquake decades ago. Not very long after we moved to Puriscal a new fence was erected around the church property. The new one was higher, stronger and more difficult to climb over. It was also moved to the edge of the public sidewalk, except for one side where the fence extended to the edge of the road. The public sidewalk was blocked off, I thought that was odd and inconvenient for pedestrians.

Recently, the fence blocking the sidewalk was moved. Apparently, a different mayor is in charge and they felt it was time to free the sidewalk. It's now a lot nicer to walk along that stretch of the road.
