The Scarlet Macaws are Back
A couple of times every year the scarlet macaw parrots fly overhead. They make a distinctive call when flying so it's easy to know when they are nearby. This year they flew by and I ran out to see them, it's such a treat! The next day they did the same, then the next day and now it has been a daily occurrence for about one month. A flock of about fourteen have been flying all over around our area. Because it has been going on for so long I am guessing they are spreading their territory and looking for homes. I even saw them check out some areas on the other side of the river, on our property.
They have not stopped in a tree that is good for me to get pictures. Above is the best one so far and they were completely out of range for the lens. The best photos I took of them are on this blog post in 2019.
