Mall Animals and Red Light Bulbs

Holiday decorations at Multiplaza Escazu, Costa Rica

Last month, we went to the mall in Escazu and it was all decked out for the holidays. I didn't pay much attention to the displays until we approached one with farm animals. The pigs made me chuckle. This represents Christmas in rural Costa Rica!

I was searching for red light bulbs on this journey. Last time I looked for light bulbs at EPA they had several different colors. This time they had white, amber, green and a black light. I noticed that the majority of the light bulbs were LED and CFL, a few incandescent and a nice selection of  Edison bulbs. We did purchase a Himalayan salt lamp.

Last time we bought red bulbs it was at a pet store in Santiago de Puriscal. They are used for fish aquariums. I was happy to find a new pet store at the Multiplaza. They had a decent selection of fresh and salt water fish. I always like looking at the tropical fish. They didn't have any red light bulbs so we struck out. I was glad we bought the salt lamp because it will be used for light at night in the house. The coating on the red bulb we were using was melting and I knew its time was coming to an end.

Not part of the holiday decorations. A big zebra outside a clothing store.

In case you were wondering, red light at night helps to protect your circadian rhythm. I also use Iris software on the computer monitor to eliminate blue light and flicker. Another layer of protection are my blue light blocking eye glasses. It's important to take care of your health and to be in harmony with your body and nature's cycles. Wishing you good health, happiness and freedom this holiday season!
