Fifteen Years in Costa Rica!

December 20th is the fifteenth anniversary of our arrival in Costa Rica. I read my first blog entry again and can see how much has changed over the years, especially the years we have lived in Puriscal. Here are some of my observations.

The grocery stores in town carry a wider selection of products. The need to travel over the mountain to get specialty items has decreased.

The first internet service we had was the similar to dial-up speeds and painfully slow. It took several years before that improved, but now the internet is good enough and if we really want a faster connection it's possible.

I lost count of how many new homes have been built on the road from town to the property. I think it's close to 200.

Garbage pickup has improved tremendously. Twice a year they even pickup odd big things like furniture, appliances, mattresses, etc.

My wish for changes in the next fifteen years would be more reliable mail delivery. It would also be nice if we could freely order products from the internet. As it is now many items are prohibited or extremely expensive to import.

However, we didn't move here for ease of access to things. We moved here for some things that have remined fairly consistent such as the glorious weather and the kind, laid-back nature of Ticos.

It will be interesting to see what the next fifteen years will deliver. I imagine there will be changes, large and small.
