These unique, showy trees are in full bloom in our area now. What makes it unique is that it blooms in the dry season after a sudden drop in temperature or after a long dry spell is broken with a substantial rain.
There was no measurable rain for 46 days until February 9th when it rained almost one inch. About four days later the Cortez Amarillo trees blooms. This is a sight I look forward to every year.
