Thinning Pine Trees in Puriscal

One of the prominent features on top of the hills behind our house is a stand of pine trees. The pine trees belong to the neighboring property and were planted with the intention of harvesting in the future and the future is now. For the past year they have been cutting down another stand of pine trees and recently have started on this one. The rainbow picture shows how dense the trees used to be.

This more current photo shows how light and sky can be seen through the thinning trees. I'm not sad to see those trees go. They are not native to Costa Rica and are usually planted for lumber or wind breaks. I await and welcome a more natural looking curve to the hillside.
