Warning – Scammer in Puriscal!

I learned about a scam in the area. A stranger shows up at your house, usually alone. They say they were sent to deliver money to the person who drives the same color of car that parks at your residence. The scam works best if the person who usually drives the car and the car itself isn't home and another householder is given the news. 

They make excuses for delivering the money such as their grandmother sent them and that the money is for some type of work. They will know, even if the car is gone, that someone at the house drives that color of car. They will try very hard to convince the person to take the money. Do not take the money!

If the money does exchange hands then the scammer will return and say they made a mistake giving you the money. There may be some disagreement as to how much money was handed over. This could lead to being robbed. 

I also heard of another scam that involves someone asking you to do a job of taking a backpack to a neighboring city and throwing it in a garbage can. If you do the job you can keep the large wad of cash in the backpack. This is a very dangerous scam. Never engage with anyone wanting to give you "free" money.
