This is my favorite time of year in Costa Rica. The rains have pretty much stopped and it doesn't get too hot yet. Some of the trees are dropping their leaves and the procession of flowering trees has begun. Currently, there are three different types of trees blooming and the Saragundi is the most showy of the bunch. This tree is a volunteer (meaning I didn't plant it) growing near our house. Within two years it grew to its current height of about 20 feet. The leaves and flowers are known for having several medicinal properties.
